How to Pick the Best Adjustable Kettlebell for You
There are a few features to consider when picking out an adjustable kettlebell that you must pay attention to. First of all, the advantages that adjustable kettlebells offer over traditional single weight kettlebells are numerous however there are some faults as well.
- Adjustable kettlebells save money and space
- Adjustable kettlebells are great for your home gym, use a wide variety of weights for exercises with just one kettlebell
- Adjustable kettlebells can have a metal or plastic attachment which can be frimgagile
- Depending on how the weight is controlled, adjusting the weight can give a different feel and center of balance to the kettlebell
- Sometimes adjustable kettlebells are different shapes than traditional to accomodate the weight adjustments and mechanism
Being aware of some of these points, let’s hop into the best adjustable kettlebell reviews to find a suitable exercise kettlebell for your needs. Ideally you want to find a kettlebell with a weight range that will suit your exercise needs for time to come, it shouldn’t break the bank if budget is a concern, and it should feel like a real kettlebell for performing swinging exercises (this is the most important thing I think.
Best Adjustable Kettlebell Reviews
Titan Fitness 5-40lb Adjustable Kettlebell Review (5-40lbs) [usr 4]
The first type of adjustable kettlebell on the list is a disc attachment mechanism. The cast iron plates slide onto the kettlebell body and are locked into place. This is a pretty good all-around adjustable kettlebell giving a decent range of weight from 5-40lbs, it’s made from quality materials and is built to last, and the price is quite reasonable. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good quality adjustable kettlebell that they’ll get a lot of use out of in the 5-40lb range.
- Cast iron plates (good durable material)
- Easily adjustable mechanism offers 6 different weight levels
- 5-40lb weight range
- Handle and design simulates a standard kettlebell which is important for consistency and ease of use when training

Empower 3in1 Adjustable Kettlebell Review (5-12lbs) [usr 3.5]
This is my recommendation for the best adjustable kettlebell for beginners – the price is right, the weight is a bit lighter but that’s okay. The combination of lighter weight, budget price, and standard kettlebell feel makes this perfect for your first adjustable kettlebell and use in your home gym. The weight ranges from 5-12lbs and is super easy to adjust – the weights lock in with a twist and stay tight while you exercise. One other great point for beginners or lighter kettlebell weight users is that this specific adjustable kettlebell comes with a total body workout DVD with 3 great workouts on it!
- 5-12lb adjustable kettlebell
- Twist and lock mechanism is secure and easy to use
- Comes with great training DVD to get you started
- Best budget/beginner adjustable kettlebell

PowerBlock Kettle Block Review (5-40lbs) [usr 2.5]
I’m not a super big fan of this design for an adjustable kettlebell but I’ll include it to review anyways. The PowerBlock KettleBlock has adopted a square/blocky design in which the weight plates are slipped into. A lot of kettlebell exercises involve swinging the kettlebell up, and it often comes in contact with the forearms, thighs, and wrist areas. While there are techniques used to soften the contact, the hard and sharp edges of this specific design will make it uncomfortable and more painful if you haven’t mastered these techniques. Even then, you’ll still end up with your share of bumps and bruises. The design could be improved by using a sphereical design and having the weights slide into it, but I think the square design makes this product a bust. Maybe if they designed it to hold more weight than the other adjustable options it could have some benefits.
- 5-40lb adjustable kettlebell
- Square design creates issues with controlling the bell from hurting your arms/body
- Overall not the greatest design
- Wouldn’t recommend this one, especially at its price point.

Stamina Adjustable Kettle Versa-Bell Review (16-36lb) [usr 4.5]
The lowest setting on this adjustable kettlebell starts at 16lbs which is the highest on this list so far but other than that I think this is the best adjustable kettlebell on the list. Due to its design being so close to a standard kettlelbell, this will provide the most authentic, and effective kettlebell workout out of all of the options on this list. Their patented adjustment mechanism has the weights slide into a standard kettlebell shape to allow it to feel just like a standard kettlebell. I think creating that similar weight distribution feel is the biggest challenge in making a great adjustable kettlebell and Stamina has accomplished just that. If only they made it a bit lighter and heavier!
- 16-36lb adjustable kettlebell in 4lb increments (6 levels)
- Patented adjustable mechanism makes it handle just like a standard kettlebell
- Feels the best out of all of the kettlebells on this list
- Overall best adjustable kettlebell
- I only wish it started a bit lighter, and also went heavier
- 90 day warranty!
I think it’s hard to go wrong choosing this kettlebell if you’re able to start out at 16lbs. If you really want a complete home gym set, I would recommend getting this kettlebell alongside one of the lighter options so you have a full spectrum of weights to choose from. I’ve heard in the future they plan to make two new models – one lighter one, and one heavier one to give a wider range of options to adjustable kettlebell lovers.

Kettlebud Adjustable Kettlebell Review (5-100+lbs) [usr 3.5]
The Kettlebud adjustable kettlebell has some of the same challenges and cons as the PowerBlock but it makes up for it by being the highest weight adjustable kettlebell on this list. It doesn’t actually come with any weight, but what you do is use standard olympic plate weights and attach them to the handle like you would on the end of a barbell and secure them with pins. This allows you to use as little as 2.5lbs, and all the way up to over 100lbs depending on which plates you have available. Since you could end up with full-size plates hanging off the end of this thing, there may be some challenges that come up however it does let you put a lot of weight on your kettlebell.
- 5-100+lb adjustable kettlebell
- Highest weight adjustable kettlebell on this list
- Might be challenging to use with full-size plates attached to it
- An interesting option to consider if you want a heavy adjustable kettlebell

Mir Adjustable Kettlebell Review (10-83lbs) [usr 3.5]
Here’s another option very similar to the Kettlebud but a bit more controllable I think. You add weights onto the double shaft handle which allows you to fit on a lot of weight – up to 83lbs and I don’t know too many people using kettlebells heavier than that regularly. I think this Mir kettlebell has an advantage over the Kettlebud due to the rounded plates that are all the same size hanging on the attachment. This will make a consistent center of gravity no matter which weight you use, and it’s not perfectly spherical like a standard kettlebell but it’s also not sharp so it won’t be banging and bashing against your arms. This is a great adjustable kettlebell option for those wanting heavier weights.
- 10-83lb adjustable kettlebell
- Great option for a heavier kettlebell
- Stack weights on the two shaft handle
- Enjoy a stable center of gravity, and no sharp edges like the other heavier options

Rocketlok Adjustable Kettlebell Review (14-20lbs) [usr 3]
The Rocketlok is very similar to the Stamina adjustable kettlebell in that it offers a very similar feel to a standard kettlebell. The weights are essentially inserted inside the spherical portion of the bell and then it’s used normally. Looking at it without knowing, you might not even notice that it’s an adjustable kettlebell. The problem for me is that it only starts 2lbs lighter than the Stamina Kettlebell, and only goes up too 20lbs. It’s cheaper than the Stamina, but not by much. I would only get this Kettlebell if you were set on needing around 14-20lbs of weight, or else just go with the Stamina and get 16-36lbs of weight in an adjustable kettlebell that feels like a standard kettlebell.
- 14-20lb adjustable kettlebell
- Weighted by steel cylinders that fit inside the locking mechanism
- Three adjustable levels
- Very balance kettlebell, feels like a standard weighted kettlebell
- Good option for those wanting 14-20lbs of resistance only, otherwise get the Stamina Kettlebell

How to Pick the Right Adjustable Kettlebell for You
With several options in contention for the best adjustable kettlebell, let’s break down a few different scenarios and help you decide which kettlebell is right for you. As a general breakdown we can assess that:
- If the adjustable kettlebell will see use in a home gym with one person, you buy the kettlebell with the specific weight range that you’ll use. If the gym is used by many people, you’ll want a wider weight range or even a few different kettlebells that spread across a wider weight range. The Stamina Adjustable Kettlebell is the kettlebell that offers the best feel, and also the widest weight range that goes fairly heavy.
- If you’re a beginner kettlebell user, or want to get into kettlebells – you’ll want to go with the lighter and probably less expensive options like the Rocketlok or Titan Fitness models (Titan Fitness has the best beginner weight range that also gives you room to expand at 5-40lbs).
- If you want a super heavy adjustable kettlebell, the Mir adjustable kettlebell goes up to 83lbs which is pretty darn heavy. It also goes from 5-83lbs so has a huge range (the largest range on this list. I would recommend it over the Kettlebud because it’s easier to use as a traditional kettlebell. While the Kettlebud CAN hold the most weight, having heavy plates on the end of something you’re swinging around just isn’t smart.
Best Adjustable Kettlebell Review Conclusion
All of these kettlebells are good, but now we ask which one of them is the best adjustable kettlebell? If I had to pick only ONE of them it would probably be the Stamina Adjustable Kettlebell. There are cheaper options, and there are options that go heavier – but for me the entire point of kettlebell exercises is use the swing and balance of the bell to work not only endurance, but also build muscle and develop coordination. The whole thing is thrown off with a weirdly shaped, off-balance kettlebell that doesn’t swing well and isn’t easy to use for the exercises.
The Stamina adjustable kettlebell has a good weight range, it feels like the real deal, and it’s really not that expensive. I could see arguments made for the Titan Fitness option since it offers a wider weight range but it rattles it a bit, and I could also see an argument made for the Mir beacuse it has an even wider weight range and also can go pretty heavy – my problem is the shape and feel of the kettlebells is unmatched to the Stamina which feels like a regular kettlebell. It’s solid and balanced, and you can’t go wrong with it.
Anyhow, I hope my reviews of the best adjustable kettlebell options has helped you! Please comment below if you have another kettlebell that you really like, or if you need any other equipment advice let me know :).
Bonus tip: Using workout chalk during your kettlebell working can save your hands from wear, and also make it easier to hold the handle and perform your exercises.
